Calcium silicate is a mineral-based building material that is available in the form of plates. It consists of lime (calcium oxide), quartz sand (silicon dioxide) and pore formers. In a first production step, the substances are slurried in water and react to form a precursor of the calcium silicate. In a further step of the preparation, the plates cure under superheated steam and high pressure. The result is a fine-pored open structure with high capillary absorbency.
Calcium silicate sheets are designed for maximum application temperatures of 1,000 C (at a density of 225 kg / m³) and 1,100 C (at a density of 245 kg / m³) and offer, due to the high porosity, an excellent insulating ability for all temperature ranges (-200 C to 1,000 C)
The plates are available in sizes of 610 x 1,000 mm and 1,220 x 1,000 mm and in thicknesses between 20 mm and 100 mm. If required, customer-specific molded parts can also be produced from them.
Typical applications are for example:
- Rear insulation in the Furnace and industrial furnace construction
- Petrochemistry
- Cement industry
- Structurally Fire protection
- Old building renovations / damp room insulation
